Interestingly enough, Ehrman’s problems with ‘The Bible’ are ‘not’ what caused him to lose his Christian faith, and he’s made that very clear. He lost his faith because of his inability to reconcile the pain and suffering and injustice in the world with a good and loving God. slumlord is in good company when he questions “God’s Purpose” regarding such.

True. That may have been the straw that broke the camels back, but he's a prime example of a scholars who's totality of faith inversely correlated with his overall level of Biblical knowledge. Even for someone who began at the most fundamentalist of Bible colleges, there comes a point where no matter how hard you try, the biblical claims don't stand up to scrutiny.

Major pillars of the Christian Faith are now known to be Mythical, the 6 days creation, garden of eden, the Flood story, Exodus, Joshua's conquest of Judea are pure myth. Even the tales of King David are now known to be at least mostly if not completely myth, and the current research on Jesus and even Mohammad is moving in that direction as well.
