There really oughtta be a category called “dirt road bikes”, which encompasses a huge amount of terrain out west especially. Sliding around on them at speed ranks right up there in the list of candidates for “the most fun you can have with your clothes on”.

There used to be a Christmas Party held every year in Tierra del Fuego for guys who had ridden down from North America. For THAT sort of adventure I dunno what a 1,000cc motorcycle could do that a 650cc bike couldn’t do better and more easily.

Tho in the early 1980’s I do recall a 64yo guy (that I thought seriously old at the time ) showed up at that party on a Sportster.
