Birdie? The Green Machine? I always hoped some day I could get a Superbike and put lights on it, maybe a milder cam and some stuffing in the megaphone. But yep, Superbike.

There's nothing like a well-set up naked bike. Not too loud, not too flashy, but the best rubber and suspension bits you can get. I mean, grab a little attention, but don't announce yourself.

I remember one day, there was this one section on the way to Mount Evans. The pavement was only about two years old, good integrity, and this particular part had really good sight lines, beautiful day (no scary black clouds), and no traffic. So I made one pass up and down, then another, and for the NEXT two, I had an audience, people actually walked down to the roadside from the pullouts and were watching, taking pictures, little kids jumping up and down, thumbs up from the grownups. Figured I'd better go home while the going was still good. But that was pretty cool.
