Spend good time reading the posts. Why don't you go farther and open a debate about 280 Remy against 30-06 Govt. Think you can go to over 4000 posts.
For me, even if i used the 308 for hunting in Canada or Germany, i can't use it in France (not allowed for hunting)so i use sometimes my 7-08 Steyr Scout, if i do my part and make a good handload with a Partition 150grs or 150grs BT (depend on game, type of hunt and scope used)meat is in the freezer and trophy on the wall. Longest range 347meters on a corsican ram, shortest 10 meters on a 85kg wild boar. They went nowhere more than 5 meters after being shot.
Not so bad a cartridge, i use it also for target shooting to 600m (308 also)with 168 grs Sierra. Nothing bad to say, they are very close to each other.
