I have hunted a lot with rifles in 270,280,and 30-06. While the 280 is my favorite, there is really not a lot of difference between what they do in the field.

In my magnum phase which isn't completely over,I have done the same thing with 270,7mm,and 300 magnums. Again not a lot of difference in their effect on the life support system of a critter.

In actual shooting at steel, the 270s will do most anything with 140 accubonds that the 7mms will do with 160 accubonds in terms of trajectory and wind resistance. The 30s with 180 accubonds do not shoot as flat or resist wind as well. But all kill well. I killed a very big boar a couple of weeks ago with my 30-06 with a 180 accubond at about 200 yards. Bang Flop. The hog never knew what hit him.

There is nothing wrong with the 270 and 30-06.
