I admit that I have learned a little more about the ballistic "superiority" of the 7mm projectiles, but I have loved a few 7s without said revelations.

I still love my .308 Win. and would recommend it over the 7mm-08 for the novice looking to buy their first big game rifle or first SA rifle. I talk to so many guys that are in their 30s-40s that are wanting to leave their LA and Magnum rifles in the closet for something a little more pleasant to shoot. Both the 7mm-08 and the .308 fit that bill well. However, most of these guys simply don't reload (I don't judge them negatively for that decision.) and are going to be restricted to factory loaded fodder. The .308 shines aeons beyond the 7mm-08 in that regard.
