Fly rods are a lot like rifles. You could put the most exspensive custom in the hands of a guy that shoots a few times a year, then hand him a T3, and he would still shoot those same animals. Have have handles and fished with some nice rods, Sage, and even a Hardy. Thay did make my St.Croix feel like clubs, but I managed to get over it. I'm just not there yet. Someday, but not yet. As to the question, no, it didn't answer, so I'll rephrase. Does the shorter, or longer, rod make fighting those smaller fish more sporty? I could benefit from the longer length as far as current and mending, but really am looking for the most sporty rod to really feel and play those smaller fish.
Great hi-jack.
Thanks.

You can run, but you'll just die tired.
