2700 fps with RL15. That's the important part. My manuals show speeds in the 2500's somewhere with max loads of the stuff. From a 26" pressure barrel, no less.

Whether or not 2700 fps is do-able in general, I don't know.


Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but I didn't labor through the whole thread.

My 49th edition Lyman manual has a 162 grain Hornady doing 2690 out of a 24" barrel. This was with Rem. brass and primers ans 41.5 grains of RL15. They show 51,000 CUP, top end but not really hairy. Overall length was 2.8 inches.

That's a reasonable combination for a reasonable person to check out. smile
