The .243 and 6mm Remington account for a substantial amount of elk where I am from.
Quite frankly, I would not hesitate in the least bit to hunt big mule deer and elk with my 6mm Remington.
Not trying to cause trouble but your daughter shot her elk with a .308 Tikka with 155 Scenar if I remember correctly.
I know guys have used .223 on deer but I have to many others for that assignment.
