I had three different opportunities to hunt this deer. I turned them down.

My grandson in the picture shot him about an hour after he arrived at the ranch (3,000 acres under high fence). My son had contracted with the owner to take 15 deer.

It was the boy's first buck. On the working-mans leases I have been on, I've never even seen such a buck, much less had the opportuntity to take one.

I prefer to earn my deer.



The location is the Briscoe Ranch, Reagan Wells, Texas. This is a low fence/no fence ranch of some 60K +/- acres if IIRC.

All of the pix above are from game cams one of my buds and have out.

My buds and I have a 1,700 acre "pasture" that we have leased since 2004.

In the pasture we lease there has not been a strand of wire put up or replaced other than what we do. I have put up pens, but they are for keeping hogs out.
