Yes and yes.
Yes. One was very close to the border that B/C uses to distinguish between griz and Coastal bears. The other was a true, interior mountain griz. Yes (though I have only taken meat when they’re eating blueberries). No, AK doesn’t require griz meat to be salvaged, from sport shot griz at least. I still will take it, or some anyhow when they’re ‘blueberry’ bears. Not so much when they’ve been on gut piles or winterkill.
