Would not think that a minigun barrel was mild steel, but that's not my specialty. The off color spot in the middle of the crater is an AP core from an AK47. Won that prize on the hill country in the SE quadrant of the A Shau Valley in 'Nam. My observer still carries a small bit of shrapnel in his left hand from that event. Spring 1970.

So, we were on patrol and the Dinks opened up on us. I did not pull the trigger on the minigun. Don't have a clue why, but praise be unto the Lord for giving me pause. About 30 seconds after the hit my observer informed me that the minigun had been hit and begged me not to shoot it. The shot came from directly below and caused the barrel assembly to rotate 180*.


I am..........disturbed.
