Different conditions call for different actions. I will say I am 60 been hunting on my own over 45 years, carried chamber full 90+% of that and it's been safe so far. Some guys walking the woods aren't safe with any gun, others are fine with one in the chamber. Ya'll carry how ya want I'll do what I see fit for me, when and where.
I'd like to see the guy that hunts upland birds with a double and keeps his chambers empty. Doubt he gets many birds.
