Rgrx1276..

What is your take on the reason for the long action on the m-24?

I took a tour of the AMU at Ft Benning in the spring of 1991. They told me it was so the action could be easily converted to a .300 Win mag for 1,000 yard match use..The loading room at the AMU unit had 55 gal drums FULL of new Winchester .300WM brass. They favored the round for long range mathes at the time and they told me so.

The contract package provided by Remington included a set of match iron sites so I assume the Army wanted the rifles to be mulit purpose rigs once in the system.
