1972 Lake City Match ammunition is just what it says: target ammunition, not approved for combat in 1972.

The U.S. military shooting teams were using ammunition with the 168-gr Sierra .308 HPBT match bullets as soon as they came out in 1959, but they were not authorized for military deployment until 1980.

Remington had some civilian sales of the M24 in the late 1970s and to law enforcement and some civilian sales in 1995-1996. If you find one for sale, the first thing to do is check the serial numbers for that date range, then call Remington to verify.

I already explained this in other threads you did not read, or comprehend, wmeek.

Again, you only know a very little, not even enough to be dangerous, just confused. The same applies to ChrisF. You guys are ignorant enough to think that everyone who does know something is "uniformed", because they know more than you do.
