6.5mi with ~1300ft elevation gain yesterday to look for the ever elusive elk in paradise valley. Saw some beautiful elk country, but only saw lotsa deer, including a pretty nice MD buck- too bad I already filled my deer tag. I went up, but it appears the recent snows and bitter cold weather through south central MT finally pushed them down.
