With eight 40 year old F-16s half or more of them will be redlined most of the time. Even with the best maintenance available that would be the case.
They are talking 60-100 F-16's of European and Amercan origin.
The Ukrainians need some decent air power to rout the Russians and push through the Russian defensive lines. The good thing for the Ukrainians is that the Russians can't advance.
No doubt aviation assets will help. However, they will probably not gain air superiority and their affectiveness will greatly depend on how they are armed. The really need lots of anti radiation missles to start with.
