The Crimea land bridge is very vulnerable, if Ukraine can even just create a “bulge” into it, they gain fire control and things cascade from there. Ukraine has been playing the long game with their counteroffensive, choosing to move deliberately, win the counter-battery battle, and degrade Russian logistics and morale rather than just throw meat and iron at Russian minefields and trenches.
