Some people recall the Arab oil embargo of 1973. None of the oil producing states care about U.S. sanctions. If push comes to shove the oil producing Middle Eastern states will shut off exports to the U.S.A. completely.

It wouldn't matter except for the fact that the Biden administration intentionally crippled domestic oil production when he first took office.

Bottom line, the U.S. lacks the clout to control world oil prices. That's been over for decades.
