Long war 'plays into Russian hands' - as army 'bypassing sanctions'
A long war is "not in the interests of Ukraine", the deputy head of the Ukrainian president's office has said.
Russia has more manpower, equipment and ammunition, and has circumvented sanctions to produce new drones and missiles, Ihor Zhovka said.
His comments come after the UK defence ministry said Russia was preparing for a long war.
"Time plays into Russian hands," Mr Zhovka said.
"The history of the Russian empire tells us they wage war by quantity, rather than by quality."
He said Russia launched 500 drones and missiles in the past five days, attacking malls, nurseries and multistorey buildings rather than military targets.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked Rishi Sunak for further "air defence facilities" and discussed the possibility of the UK being "more active in the peace formula", added the Ukrainian official.
