Russia lost the war it the first three days in terms of what they could have hoped to gain vs lose. What is gained vs lost in war goes well beyond the battlefield. If Russia completely defeats Ukraine, it will not mean they won the war they started, only that they defeated Ukraine. What they've lost will take decades to recover, if they ever do.
