but then AK is full of dysfunctional folks from the lower 48 who took off up there and live in isolated places, to get away from the law.....people with zero social skills...drug use and distribution... who knows what else, the list is endless...

My BIL's farm goes up and is a few hundred yards off skyline drive up the North mountain. I proposed to my wife on Sharptop. I try to get back often and try to get in a hunt or two each Fall. I have property in the area as well. Hope to quit traveling all the time and retire there some day.
