Sammo I hunted rattlers for years...learned not to fug with the ones that were fuggin.....it seems they WILL attempt to protect their mates
Most of my experience was with Pacific Diamondbacks in WA state.... a snake not to be made sport of, deadly and born with a bit of an attitude.....and of course prairie rattlers here at home.
BIG difference is you pin the head on a Pacific, and he holds still...pin the head on a prairie rattler and they go ballistic!
