Some elbow-length rough leather gloves (backyard BBQ pit kit) and long sleeves are a good idea when pouring lead, as is wearing safety glasses or polycarbonate lens prescription spectacles with no coatings, i.e., farmer's specs that can be cleaned on your shirt tail.
