Gibbs who cleaned up in competitions with his .461 Gibbs No. 1 and No. 2 using paper-patched bullets, until his 1894 introduction of electroplating of copper onto lead bullets for the .461 Gibbs No. 1 BPCR. That was copied by most other shooters in 1895, though the pesky smokeless rifles were showing up then too:
