Pretty much.

In the USA Thanksgiving its a Harvest feast, originating in 1621 harvest feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag people.

Canadian Thanksgiving is actually the OG holiday, with the first reported instance of a Thanksgiving in North America in 1578, when Martin Frobisher and his crew celebrated safely landing in Nunavut.

The first meal was less glamorous than today’s feasts: mostly salt beef, biscuits, and mushy peas. Painting of the event on their ship below.

For me, it's always been about eating Turkey and having a day off work.
