One of the reasons I'm trying to go for max case length is we are in open farm country and trying to stretch the range as much as possible. If I can get something that will shoot to 250 yds with dots I'd be outside the realm of muzzle loaders and thats the whole object. No doubt lots of people will opt for the .44 repeaters. well, flatest shooting and legal would be a strong case at max length, and the smallest legal bore, where you could easily get pointy bullets, that would expand at the expected velocities, which would be .358.

So maybe a .357 Maximum for factory rounds? 1.605" max case length. Or a .375 Winchester, trimmed to 1.8" ?
