Took a couple folks from work out today after late season cows. Got onto a huge herd, but couldn't get set up fast enough.

Then, about a mile away, maybe more, I spotted a cow and calf bedded. We stalked up, crawled through the snow and got into position at roughly 300 yards. 1 shot and the cow was down (this girl's first elk). The calf was obviously confused and stood long enough for the other shooter to do his thing. 2 dead elk. Easy day!

Did I mention it never got above zero and we got stuck twice getting these critters out? Luckily we were able to get the vehicle fairly close so the pack was not too bad.

It's been a long, but great day.
