We were sheep hunting in Alaska and had ridden the four wheelers up into a high bowl where we were glassing for sheep. We found a large group of banana rams and ewes just over the ridge and while I was sitting there watching the sheep I looked down in valley below and saw a huge black waddling animal.

BEAR!

It was waddling but not quite like a bear. WTF? What is it?

Porky pine. laugh I laughed at myself for being fooled but in the high rocky tundra you can lose all sense of depth perception and size. At first glance it really did look like a black bear waaaay off in the distance below us. I was looking down on it's back and couldn't see the legs which is what threw me.
