Last Winter was nice, so far this one not so much.

Wind protection is key when it's cold. My dad's cows are lucky enough to spend Winters on the river bottom where there a lot of places to escape the wind. Lots of trees and old dry river channels. Those cows were running across an open area to another area behind a tree row out of the wind.

Cows that belong to guys out in the flat hills sometimes don't get as much for 'shelter'. That would suck, don't like to see that kind of thing whether it's a horse or a dog or whatever.

Winter ain't no joke and you have to feed and take care of the critters!

Rolled out a bunch of extra straw bales for the cattle yesterday and today as well.
8 ton or so.

That way I don't feel guilty right now sittin' inside were it's nice and warm drinking beer and and watching football!

Happy New Year!
