Hmmm, how about "Badger"? Dachshund is German for "Badger dog".

From Wikipedia:
'...The standard size was developed to scent, chase, and flush badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, while the miniature was developed to hunt smaller prey, like rabbits. The name "dachshund" is of German origin and literally means "badger dog", from Dachs ("badger") and Hund ("dog").'

Of course if it's the miniature breed he's more of a rabbit dog. He would hunt the wascally wabbits so you could call him "Rascal".
