The lawsuit thing is a lot like gun crimes and school shootings. They are not really as common as folks would have you believe ("folks" being the media, the internet forums, email lists, etc.). But when one does happen, big deals are made of it immediately and everyone runs for cover.
A couple years ago, some organization surveyed lawsuits and found that the vast majority of them are between corporations; not individuals suing individuals, which ranked about last on their list.
