Crazy? Not sure how you mean, but all they talked about was damage to housing and something about lots of sink holes full of cars. It was national news, not local crap.
I saw a brief video clip somewhere last night, must have been on the 'puter somewhere. No mention of zoo animals or any other animals other than humans there too.
You must be picking up just a local thing.
Hope your dad's place is okay. I did the multiple feet of water in the basement thing in my first house back in the Iowa floods of 93. Had to leave for a month of field work that way, but when I came home all was okay. I have no idea how or why. But the water heater and furnace both checked out fine and worked fine for years until I sold the house. Maybe your dad will get that lucky. We can hope anyway.
