Finally got around to mounting a scope on my Tikka 6.5 Swede and took it to the range today. I had a box of RWS 140 grainers and got it on paper. Groups aren't anything to brag about. Now I need to work up some reloads.

The star of the day was my granddaughter, Ashlee. Ashlee drew a special November youth deer hunt tag for the Sandhill Wildlife area. She has to attend a one day orientation session with the DNR Aug 3rd, during which she has to qualify with a rifle.

Using her dads A Bolt 30-06 with Managed Recoil loads we had her try shots from 25 to 100 yards. She was so nervous on the first shot that she missed the target completely. Once she realized she wasn't going to get beat up by the recoil she settled down and started to punch the center out of the target. Her last 3 shots were at 100 yards and she grouped them into 1 inch. Dad and grandpa were pretty darn proud of her.
