Most of the "lakes" around here are wide spots in the river because of the dams for the paper mills. I catch more fish in 2'-10' of water than anywhere. When you start to go deeper, we'll get the norhters and cats.
Even in Lake MI, the water will be 25' deep, but I'm catching fish at 5-18' on average.(trolling)
